Surface Repairs and Painting
The Historic Gloria Dei Preservation Corporation was awarded a Keystone Grant to support the repair and painting of wood elements on three of the buildings on our campus. These repairs were long overdue and some areas were in danger of collapsing.
Churchyard Restoration
The Gloria Dei graveyard has been in continuous use since 1677 and is one of the oldest burial grounds in Philadelphia. We seek to restore the churchyard to an earlier point in history by increasing the historical accuracy of the environment and repairing and preserving gravestones that have decayed due to extreme age.
Churchyard Mapping Project
Now visitors with smartphones and tablets – or those who prefer paper – can locate their ancestors on our map and learn about them. Hardcopies of this map are available for free in a box mounted at the front of the church. Visitors with smartphones can access an interactive version of the map on our website.
