PrintGloria Dei Lutheran Church was the first to send us a “royalty payment” for the use of the name Gloria Dei! Since we are the first to have this name in North America (and probably everywhere else!) we asked 93 other Gloria Dei’s in the US and Canada to support our preservation efforts at our Gloria Dei (Old Swedes’) Church.

To our delight, we also learned that one of their stained glass windows includes an image of our Gloria Dei (Old Swedes’) Church.  We are also mentioned is a wonderful video about all of their beautiful stained glass windows! Here is a link to their web page with the links to the videos. “Our” window is discussed in the fourth stained glass video:  Stained glass window videos

This vibrant and welcoming church is well worth a visit on your next trip to St. Paul, Minnesota! We are very grateful for their generosity as we endeavor to preserve our Gloria Dei Church.

Gloria Dei Lutheran Church was founded on June 4, 1908 as a mission congregation of First Lutheran Church, the first Lutheran congregation to take root in Minnesota territory. Originally located in a small church building on Victoria and Hague in St. Paul, the church moved to its current location at Snelling and Highland Parkway in 1951. Today our community of faith serves thousands of members, our neighborhood and local and global ministries. We have come this far by grace.
