The Disappearance of the SS Poet

The Historic Gloria Dei Preservation Corporation will be presenting our second curated exhibit in 2020. “The Disappearance of the SS Poet” will explore the mysterious disappearance of this vessel and honor its crew who were believed to have been lost at sea.

This free exhibit will be open to the public Tuesday through Sunday, 9 am to 4 pm. It opens on May. 1, 2020 and closes on Dec. 31, 2022 (closing date extended due to COVID).

Attractions also include photographs charting the vessel’s history as a troopship, the story behind its cargo-carrying days and the prevailing theories about what happened to it.

Lucia: A Life, A Legend, A Legacy

The Historic Gloria Dei Preservation Corporation presented our first curated exhibit in 2019. “Lucia: A Life, A Legend, A Legacy” explored the Christian martyr whose selfless acts inspired an longstanding annual festival at Gloria Dei (Old Swedes’) Church.

This free exhibit was open to the public Tuesday through Sunday, 9 am to 4 pm.  It closed on July 31, 2019.

Attractions also included photographs from Gloria Dei’s very own Lucia Festival, a musical pageant featuring Swedish songs, traditions and folklore.
