Joseph and Mary were lifelong residents of Southwark/Queen Village. Joseph was born at #10 Christian Street and Mary (nee Molony) just around the corner on Front Street. Married for over 52 years, they raised their four children in their Front Street home which once was a luncheonette operated by Mary. Joseph served in the Merchants Marines during World War II and traveled extensively throughout the North Atlantic.
Mary was a founding member of the Faculty at St. Maria Goretti High School in 1959 and served as Athletic Director there for over 25 years. Joseph, known as “Turk” by the stevedores he served, was Financial Administrator of the Welfare Pension Fund of the Longshoremen’s Union, Local 1291, and a delegate of the union for more than 38 years. They were both dedicated to helping family and friends throughout their lives.
