O! down beneath the cold cold ground
My child is sleeping now
They wrapped my sister in a snow white shroud
With cypress wreathed her brow
 
I left thee dear Kate to roam o’er the sea
But in the storm and calm each thought was of the 
I returned again thy fair form to see
And stand beside thy tomb which says remember me.
 
“Her soul was open, free and kind
Her thoughts were all sincere
Her virtues and her noble mind
To all who knew her dear
